1 down 200000 new things to do

We had our executive board retreat this weekend. It went quite well. The other execs fully believed in the vision I had created and made it their own. I was very excited about that and I hope that they can inspire the shared vision in other members of the chapter as well.

As I reflected on the weekend, though, I realized that we still have a lot more to do. The retreat could have been a week long and we still wouldn't have everything done. I am very happy with the progress that we did make though. With dedication, our vision will be well on its way to being realized.

I am also extremely happy with my VP of Recruitment. He can be stubborn, but he did a really good job with listening and considering options that we put out there. I am VERY proud of him. I should get him a cookie.

Now all we have to do is remember everything we talked about and continue to work on it.

Some days off

This weekend has been a good one to remember. Three almni from our chapter came to town and we spent the weekend playing various games. It was a good time.

I enjoy having the young alumni back in town. It's always exciting and inspiring to talk about the chapter with them. They have ambitious attitudes and look to getting things done. Too many others only talk about what they want to do rather than actually doing it. I hope that the young ones stay on the track that they are on and continue to do great things.

Although, I could somewhat take it upon myself to show them ways to go about being an organization and have a vision and how to go about realizing it. Being trained in that, it could be a worthwhile attempt to have them move forward as an organization. I don't, however, want to go in and tell them what to do and how to do it; I hate it when someone does that to me.

But we shall see next week at our meeting.

The joy of talking to people you don't know

So SigEp has a scholarship that we give out to freshmen males each year. They apply just as the finish high school and then we interview them during the summer. Well we just started interviewing the guys in my area. They're pretty cool guys, but it's awkward to try to get them to talk. And to make it worse, two of the three said that they were kinda shy so granted I could relate being somewhat shy myself (at least around people I don't know well) but that really makes it hard to interview them and probe them for answers, but so far they're doing good.

I'm also in the middle of planning my exec board retreat. You really don't want to know how much fun that is. It's a lot of thinking about things that you have no idea how they are going to go so I have to try to cover every base of what could happen. So much work, but I think it will pay off quite well. The chapter will really benefit with the new direction that we'll have. There will be a good balance of things to help them develop for the betterment of themselves, the chapter, and the community as well as have some fun too. They should really like it. I know I'm excited.

Starting over

So I haven't posted in a while on my other blog and I didn't like where it was going anyway So here's a new one.

First off, welcome! Whether you came here on purpose or just stumbled upon it, you are here and I welcome and thank you.

What you will find here is not a bunch of words, but rather a window into a life. All of it will be my life but it won't be all of my life. In particular, this will be an opportunity to see into the life of a real fraternity man. Part of this blog aims to help demolish the stereotype that is out there, part will be to let off some steam as it arises, part will be to just react and think. But whatever it is, I hope to at least make it enjoyable to read. I'm not sure how often I'll post, but I'll try to make it as regular as I can.

So check back often and see what a real "frat guy" goes through in day to day life.

Carpe Diem.
